Japanese platinum hand warmers
Made in Japan by Hakkin. A platinum catalyst turns a little fuel into gentle, flameless warmth that lasts for hours. Refill it and use it winter after winter.
Authorized Hakkin dealer. Every warmer we sell is a genuine Hakkin product.
Our hand warmers
Hakkin, platinum hand warmers since 1923
In 1923, Hakkin of Osaka became the first to put a platinum catalyst inside a pocket warmer. A century on, the warmer works the same way, and its design has received a Good Design Long Life Design Award.
-
Strong, steady heat
About 13 times the heat of a disposable warmer, by Hakkin's figures, and even from start to finish. One full fill lasts about 24 hours.
-
Works in deep cold
It keeps working down to −40°C, so it suits skiing, ice fishing and early winter mornings.
-
Made to last
The metal case lasts for years. The burner and cotton are replaceable parts, so one warmer can see you through many winters.
-
Nothing to throw away
Refill it instead of buying disposables. There's no used warmer or wrapper to throw out at the end of the day.
How a platinum hand warmer works
Fuel soaks into the cotton inside. As it evaporates, it reacts with oxygen on the platinum burner and gives off steady heat without a flame.
Buy fuel locally
Hand warmer fuel can't be shipped internationally, so it's never in the box. Zippo lighter fluid works well and is sold in most countries. Our fuel guide has the details.
